One of the leading Insurance Companies in the country, Old Mutual Malawi has donated MK7 million to Insurance Institute of Malawi (IIM) for a four days Quiz Competition slated to commence on December 8, 2023.
The quiz competition which will involve all players in the Insurance sector will be held under theme: ‘Building Resilience Through Insurance in Times of Economic Turbulence.’
Speaking after the handover ceremony Old Mutual Life Assurance Managing Director Roy Punungwe said Old Mutual believes in continuous learning hence the sponsorship to IIM.
Punungwe said the Quiz competition will provide space for knowledge sharing, networking and collaboration which is critical for continued growth of the Insurance Sector in the country.
“As players in this industry, we need to be challenged by the low penetration of insurance which currently stands at 2.5 percent to become more innovative in raising awareness about the importance of insurance and how it contributes to national development.
“It is encouraging that IIM is leading in this quest to raise awareness through events like the Insurance Quiz which we have been proud sponsors and we are now in the tenth year. We had challenges to execute this sponsorship during the COVID pandemic but we are excited once again that the environment now safe for us to gather again for the IIM quiz,” said Punungwe.
On his part IIM President Hastings Kapesa hailed Old Mutual for providing a venue for quiz competition and the financial support.
Kapesa then assured Old Mutual that the funds provided will be used for the intended purpose.
