The Insurance Institute of Malawi (IIM) honoured Chris Kapanga, former Group CEO of Old Mutual Ghana and Old Mutual Malawi, for “exceptionally outstanding leadership and professional competence” during his 37 year career in the insurance industry.

The IIM Distinguished Service Award was presented to Kapanga at this year’s IIM Annual Conference which was held in Mangochi from 17th to 19th August.
Chairperson of the IIM Conference, Chimwemwe Kanyenda, said Kapanga’s achievements are of notable national as well as international significance and have made an important contribution to the advancement of insurance interests.
Kanyenda also said Kapanga who is now retired, implemented a successful succession plan at Old Mutual Malawi.
In his acceptance speech, Kapanga said he was humbled to be recognized in such a way, adding that this shows the industry recognizes his contributions and achievements.
On a different note, Kapanga also displayed outstanding golfing skills to win the IIM Annual Conference Golf Tournament which was held at Mlambe Golf Course at the Makokola Resort. Kapanga scored 37 points to emerge champion in the men’s section.
