The Insurance Institute of Malawi, the training arm of the insurance industry, on Friday donated medical supplies worth MK500, 000 to Mangochi district health office (DHO). The donation took place on the sidelines of this year’s IIM Annual Lakeshore Conference which was held from Thursday 17th August to Saturday 19th August.
IIM President Immaculate Singano said the gesture was part of the institute’s corporate social responsibility.
“We hold our conferences in Mangochi every year and we thought it wise to donate to health centres in the district and give back to the community,” she said.
The medical supplies include nebulisers, thermometers and blood pressure machines.
Receiving the supplies, Mangochi district health officer Dr. Henry Chibowa thanked IIM for the donation.
“We are grateful for these items. We are in short supply of these items and we really needed them to provide better quality services,” he said.
Chibowa said the items will be distributed to three health centres in the district.
This year’s IIM Conference was held under the theme Business Unusual.
