Insurance indaba planned for August

The country’s insurance players will meet in Mangochi in August for the Insurance Institute of Malawi annual conference which will be held under the theme, ‘Business
Unusual’.

Chairperson of the organising committee Chimwemwe Kanyenda said the gathering will provide a platform for insurance industry professionals to learn more about the state of the insurance sector, stay up to date with industry trends and connect with peers across the sector.

"The theme aims to set the tone for new thoughts and ideas that will break free of limitations and traditions.

"I mean letting go of the certainties of the past, often thought of as best practices in our sector, in pursuit of a spirit of inquiry and experimentation towards new approaches or next practices,” Kanyenda said.

He said discussions at the conference would focus on selected issues and emerging challenges that are deemed to be of paramount significance and practical relevance for the market.

“The conference will again give global and national leaders in the industry the opportunity to exchange knowledge and engage with topics and challenges that face the industry.

“Due to the presence of foreign and local delegates at the event, networking opportunities, which lead to many beneficial business relationships, are a significant draw card for professionals wishing to attend,” Kanyenda
said.

He added that the indaba would provide a platform for professionals to learn, engage and network with leaders and service providers in the insurance industry.

“But it’s not all about work. Over the years, the conference has been renowned for hosting spectacular social events.

“These events not only provide outstanding entertainment, but have become the place to be when it comes to networking, marketing and sharing of ideas with like-minded people, whether it’s on the golf course, at the welcome cocktail party, live band and watersports,” Kanyenda added.
